KEYWORD SEARCH

To perform a Keyword Search, enter a word associated with a specimen's formation, geologic age, locality, scientific name, site was specimen collected, specimen number and/or type status in the text box. Multiple words must be separated by white space (E.g. Saskatchewan Ignacius frugivorus). This search will only return records that contain all words entered. Partial words may be searched (E.g. Paleocene will return Tertiary-Paleocene ). Click the search button to begin the search.


ADVANCED SEARCH

This search tool is comprised of a number of fields that can be used to search for the specimens in the collection. A single field or any combination of fields may be used in one search. The searches are not case sensitive. Click the search button to begin the search.
  • Class: Select a term from the dropdown list. Selecting a Class will filter the "Scientific Name", "Family", and "Geologic Age" lists to values that only apply to that Class.
  • Scientific Name: Click on "list of scientific names" to display a list of scientific names of the specimens contained in this collection. Clicking on the desired term will automatically insert the term into the text box. Note that if a term has been selected in the class field, the list of scientifc names will be filtered to values that only apply to that class.
  • Family: Click on "list of families" to display a list of family names of the specimens contained in this collection. Clicking on the desired term will automatically insert the term into the text box. Note that if a term has been selected in the class field, the list of families will be filtered to values that only apply to that class.
  • Type Status:Select a term from the dropdown list.
  • Year Collected Range: Enter a range of years that the specimen was collected in. Years must be entered in four-digit format only (E.g. 2001). To search for specimens collected within a particular year, enter the same year into both text boxes.
  • Formation: Select a term from the dropdown list.
  • Locality: Enter the location that the specimen was collected in.
  • Geologic Age: Click on "list of geologic ages" to display a list of geologic ages of the specimens contained in this collection. Clicking on the desired term will automatically insert the term into the text box. Note that if a term has been selected in the class field, the list of geological ages will be filtered to values that only apply to that class.
  • Specimen # Range: Enter the range of specimen numbers to search for. The range entered will be inclusive. To search for a particular specimen, enter the same specimen number into both text boxes.

SITE SEARCH

This search tool is comprised of a number of fields used to search the sites that the specimens in this collection were collected in. A single field or any combination of fields may be used in one search. The searches are not case sensitive. Click the search button to begin the search.
  • Site Name: Click on "list of site names" to display a list of site names of where the specimens contained in this collection were collected. Clicking on the desired term will automatically insert the term into the text box.
  • Formation: Select a term from the dropdown list.
  • Locality: Enter the location that the specimen was collected in.
  • Geologic Age: Click on "list of geologic ages" to display a list of geologic ages of the specimens contained in this collection. Clicking on the desired term will automatically insert the term into the text box.
